2020 Season Opener Showcase & Meet Cancellation

Official Season Opener Cancellation Announcement

As a car club, we would have never guessed the day would come where we have to decide whether or not we should host a car show during a global pandemic. We have watched fellow clubs cancel their events, and we hoped we wouldn’t have to do the same.

Due to laws in our state, as well as neighboring states, we have decided to cancel the WCEC Season Opener. We will be reaching out to those who have pre-registered to offer you options moving forward. We will reach out to you, so don’t worry about reaching out to us! We will be in contact with each of you by Friday, June 19th.

We will be putting all of our efforts into Appleton Takeover to make it the best event WCEC has ever hosted, so keep your hopes high! We will be announcing the details on this event as soon as we can. Alongside hosting Appleton Takeover, we will be attending the Rally for Iola Car Cruise event as well as Udderly Euro.

We encourage you to participate in local car events as well as support local car clubs by purchasing merchandise online or donating.

We will get through this together. We can’t wait to see you all in September for Appleton Takeover.

See you all soon!

COVID-19 Announcement | Event Change Announcement

For 7 years now, Wisconsin Car Enthusiast Club has had the pleasure of providing you with some of the best automotive events in the Midwest. Each year, our season has begun with the Season Opener event. This event signals the kick off to the car season in the midwest, and has been a long standing tradition for all involved each and every year.

As many of you know, the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) outbreak has been a topic of many discussions in the last two weeks. COVID-19 has had serious implications to the health and safety of the public in many countries overseas, and as such many states in the US are taking precautionary measures. These measures ensure the health and well being of all people by limited exposure to potential viral infections.

One such precautionary measure, issued by Gov. Tony Evers on Monday ,March 16th, 2020 effectively suspends all gatherings of 50 or more people in the state of Wisconsin until mid May. Unfortunately, Car shows are not exempt from this rule (as much as we would like to think that the grease from working on our cars makes us immune).

After reviewing all of our options, Wisconsin Car Enthusiast Club, in partnership with Waukesha County Expo Center, will be pushing back the date of the 6th Annual Season Opener Event to Saturday, June 20, 2020. The event will remain from 12pm-5pm. This change allows us time to keep everyone involved happy and healthy!

We do understand that this change of scheduling can create logistical challenges. If you have any concerns with the date change, I encourage you to reach out to the team directly via PM, or to email us at theofficialwcec@gmail.com and we will be more than happy to assist you in any way possible! We truly hope that everyone remains happy, healthy, and ready for a season full of cars! See you guys on May 10th!!!

2020 Wisconsin Modified | Automotion Announcement

As many of you know, Automotion and Wisconsin Modified have been a long standing tradition for WCEC. We have been honored to bring you the Wisconsin Modified show since 2015. Over the last 2-3 years, both the City of Wisconsin Dells and Village of Lake Delton have continued to become more stringent regarding the application and permitting process for shows during the automotion weekend. Wisconsin Car Enthusiast Club has continued to invest both time and resources into assisting both municipalities with the Automotion Weekend.

On Monday, January 27th, 2020 members of our staff attended a meeting of the Village of Lake Delton town board regarding the application for a class C event permit for the 2020 Wisconsin Modified event. Our hopeful intention was to facilitate open discussion regarding the events of the weekend and how we could continue to improve the weekend for everyone involved. Unfortunately, the Village board had no room to sway, and ultimately denied the event permit for May 16th, 2020.

This is not something that is new to us. We have worked with the city for over 5 years to host this show and work through similar decisions like this one. The collaboration between the city and our organization have allowed us to help keep cars off the street, host a fun event, make local charity donations to both food pantries and school drives, and more. However, the issues that the city see’s during the weekend has officially surpassed the solutions that WCEC, and other shows have attempted to fix. This decision has been passed to all events at this time, not only ours.

At this time, this means that Wisconsin Modified is on hold as we explore additional avenues or opportunities for all of you. Whether that be continuing to work with the city and collaborate within the local space or elsewhere. As we move forward, we will continue to keep you up to date on any and all event changes.

Please note: WCEC will continue to work with both local municipalities and car clubs to find alternative solutions that are mutually beneficial, just as we have in years prior. WCEC has, and will continue to, push the envelope to bridge the gap between local municipalities and organizations like ours that bring shows to the greater Dells area during the Automotion Weekend. We would like to formally thank everyone for their support of both WCEC and Wisconsin Modified over the years. Wisconsin Modified has grown to be one of the best shows during Automotion weekend, and for that we are forever thankful.

Again, as more information is available, we will keep everyone up to date.
